Anniversary Adventures: When Romance Met Parenthood... and an Earthquake

Picture this: it's our 10th anniversary—a milestone deserving of a romantic escape. The plan? A night alone, just my husband and me. But let's talk about the reality of that picturesque plan.

The morning of our anniversary began with a twist—our son, Sebastian, wasn't feeling his best. Cue the coughing symphony. As every parent knows, when your child needs you, romance takes a backseat. So, off we went, the three of us, celebrating our anniversary as a trio.

Amidst the sights and sounds of downtown Mexico City, Sebastian's discomfort persisted, leading us back to the hotel earlier than anticipated. Romantic? Well, not exactly. Sharing a bed with a restless child isn't the stuff of dreamy getaways.

Then, at 3 AM, the plot thickened—Sebastian spiked a fever. Crisis mode: activated. Everything seemed closed, but our trusty concierge came to the rescue, delivering Motrin at a premium rate. Pricey? Sure. Worth it? Absolutely.

With Sebastian's fever subdued, we settled in for some much-needed sleep. But alas, morning arrived, and as my husband dove into a Zoom meeting at the lobby, Sebastian and I opted for a cozy, romantic, mother and son pajama-clad breakfast overlooking Reforma Avenue.

And then, just when you think it couldn't get more eventful, an earthquake alarm stirred us from our morning tranquility. Downstairs in record time, Sebastian and I—still in our 'anniversary chic' attire—joined my husband.

Surprisingly, the earthquake was mild, and despite the unexpected twists and turns, our anniversary getaway wasn't shattered. In fact, it added a peculiar charm to our story.

So, there you have it—the story of our romantic milestone, sprinkled with parental duties and an unexpected seismic event. Who says romance and parenthood can't share the spotlight?

Here's to celebrating love in all its unpredictable, heartwarming forms!
